Role of the European Data Protection Board

1. Issues an opinion when the competent supervisory authority intends to adopt and notifies to the EDPB a draft decision on the approval of:

• the certification body's accreditation requirements,

• certification criteria.

2 Approves the certification criteria in case of joint certification (European Data Protection Seal.

3. Collates in a register all certification mechanisms and data protection marks and seals in and makes them available to the public.

4. Maintains a public register of controllers or processors certified in accordance with Article 42(7) of the GDPR who are established in a third country.
